My family always goes to Disney mid-August when the temperatures reach 100+ so I’ve learned a thing or two over the years to keep us all cool and protected. In this post, we’ll explore a list of Disney must-haves that will help you beat the heat and make the most of your magical adventure. From misting fans and cooling towels to sun-protective hats and specialized sunscreens, these essentials will ensure you have a comfortable and enjoyable time at Disney World!

1. Misting Fan
A misting fan is a game-changer in the Florida heat. These portable fans are a fan and mist combo; the best ways to combat the high temperatures. I have one for each of my boys, so they can both stay cool and refreshed while waiting in lines or exploring the parks.
2. Cooling Towels
Cooling towels are one of my favorite Disney must-haves. These towels are made of special fabric that, when wet, provides a cooling effect. Simply drape it around your neck or place it on your forehead for instant relief from the heat. They are also great for keeping your stroller seats cool while you are on a ride! Just drape the towel across the seat and it’ll be nice and cool when your kids are ready to hop back in.
3. Ponchos
While ponchos aren’t necessarily protecting you from the heat, you should consider bringing some with you to protect you from the unpredictable Florida weather. These are one of those items that Disney charges an arm and a leg for in the parks, so it is super helpful to purchase these before your trip.
4. Hats
Honestly, any type of hat will do to protect you from the sun, but I found the perfect hat that my family loves for Disney! The Nike Legacy 91 Golf Hat offers excellent coverage with its wide brim and lightweight design. The fabric is truly what sets it apart from other hats. It is so lightweight that you get the benefit of sun protection without the heaviness and added heat of a typical hat. Additionally, the back is adjustable so it can fit your whole family. There are so many color options to match any outfit. I have the white, my husband has the black, my oldest has the red, and my youngest has the royal blue. The red and royal blue are perfect for Disney because they match most of the outfits my boys wear to the parks and to the pool. 5. Camelbak Backpack
Staying hydrated is essential when battling the heat, and a Camelbak water backpack is a perfect solution. These backpacks feature a built-in water compartment that allows you to sip water without having to constantly reach for a bottle or carry one along with you through the parks. They are lightweight, comfortable, and provide easy access to hydration while on the move. I personally don’t use these yet for my family because we still bring our stroller with us to Disney, but my sister has one for each person in her family and swears by them!
6. Blue Lizard Sunscreen
Protecting your skin from the sun is so important in Florida. Personally, I love Blue Lizard sunscreen for my family. My boys have very sensitive, eczema-prone skin and this is the only brand I have found over the years that works for them. Blue Lizard sunscreen offers broad-spectrum protection and is specially formulated for sensitive skin. The bottle’s unique feature of changing color when exposed to UV light serves as a reminder to reapply and is a fun visual for kids.
7. COOLA Scalp and Hair Mist Sunscreen
How many times have we all forgotten our hat or left our scalp exposed while swimming in the pool? I have done this too many times to count!
